Cruise Control for Polaris Sportsman ACE 570 and 500 (2017) TBW

Northern Grower Alliance (NGA) is funded by the Australian Grains Research and Development Corporation to conduct and coordinate prioritised applied agronomic research in north west NSW and south east Queensland.
A major focus of our trial program, particularly during the summer months is herbicide control options for problematic weeds. NGA recently upgraded their spray equipment to improve operator safety and efficiency by moving away from quad bikes to the Polaris Ace 500 single seated UTV.
Our current fleet includes three Polaris Ace units all operating a 4m offset boom with a petrol powered AR252 pump. The one downside of the Polaris Ace for our application is the foot pedal accelerator, and difficulty it creates in maintaining constant ground speed especially over rough terrain. To ensure a consistent application volume (where operating spray pressure and nozzle size is constant) NGA adapted the MC cruise control to all three of our Polaris Ace. We have found the cruise control to be extremely accurate over different types of terrain and really takes the pressure off the operator whilst spraying small plot trials.
The unit was easy to install and the backup service was excellent. The Mc Cruise control has been a critical step forward in minimising potential sources of error in our trial work and improving the quality of our data to Australian grain growers.
