Frank and I are proud to have supported this epic adventure discussed in detail in a very readable saga in Pushing Miles. When Wendy and Ian came to us saying they wanted our MCCruise on their two bikes while attempting this monumental feat, we were pleased to assist, but also thought they were 'nuts', quite frankly. Having ridden 8,500 miles around the USA alone in 2008 in just three weeks, the thought of riding 100,000 miles - quickly - was incomprehensible to me. Yet they did it!
There is nothing for me to add, but congratulate the two of them on both the ride and their remarkable epistle: for me stringing two words together is difficult, yet these two amateurs have created a huge volume which is hard to put down ...

NEW BOOK CHRONICLES A 100,000-MILE WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT WHERE THE ONLY THING THAT DIDN’T BREAK WAS THEIR SPIRIT
Pushing Miles is the incredible true story of two adventurous souls on a harrowing journey that tested the limits of their skills, their resolve, and ultimately, their friendship.
RAPID CITY, SD, Feb. 2, 2024 - When internationally renowned motorcycle endurance rider Wendy Crockett became the first woman to win the grueling 11-day, 11,000-mile Iron Butt Rally, she quipped “I just had a little less bad luck than the next guy.” Unfortunately for Crockett and her Australian riding partner, Ian McPhee, that good luck was not destined to last. Pushing Miles: A chronicle of Motorcycles, Mayhem, and Mettle follows the tenacious duo through a seemingly endless onslaught of misfortune, on their relentless quest for the record books.
Raw, humorous, and surprisingly relatable, Pushing Miles began as the unassuming travel journal of a meticulously planned motorcycle ride. But as the catastrophe count continued its meteoric rise, Crockett and McPhee quickly realized that their success hinged on the generosity of friends and the kindness of strangers. Thus arose the inspiring story behind the miles: a colorful tapestry of benevolent characters from around the world, linked by their willingness to jump into the fray and breathe renewed life into this wild once-in-a-lifetime undertaking.
As one reviewer summarized, “The (Long Distance motorcycle) riding community is small, but the audience for this book should be huge. It's not just about motorcycles and riding, but speaks to the universal human qualities of true friendship, tenacity, joy, sorrow, failure and ultimate success.”
When asked what compelled them to continue in the face of such daunting adversity, McPhee explained “Adventure is what happens when things stop going to plan, but you still find a way to keep going.” By that metric, Pushing Miles is an adventure of truly epic proportions.
Pushing Miles is 789 pages and is available now in print and ebook versions. Visit books2read.com/pushingmiles for links to purchasing options including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Aerostich, and other online retailers.
